25 of May – the wonderful day of birth of our ancient but ever young city – Kiev
For those of us who live here or simply come visit the capital during its best season of the year Kiev Day, which falls on May 25th this year, is a very special holiday. Every district of town provides a steady flow of great entertainment in many of the city parks and outdoor concert stages. Amateur and professional artists share their varied talents with huge audiences all day along. Artists from all over the country come to Kiev with their arts and crafts. Thousands of people every year fill Andriyivs'kyi Uzviz, looking for deals and simply enjoying the art show. The crowd is so immense, and the street can become so densely packed, that sometimes it can take up to ten minutes just to cross this narrow street. Khreschatyk, Maidan Nezalezhnosti, and European Square are all dotten with different sizes stages and performances, with great places to eat and drink. At the end of the day there are fireworks and concerts way past midnight in the central Squares. Wear your most comfortable walking shoes, dress appropriately for the weather conditions, and it just may be one of your best memories of your stay in Kiev.  |
